Comfort Rogers was born on 20th January 1817 and baptised two months later at Great Gaddesden in Hertfordshire, daughter of a labourer called Joseph Rogers and his wife Ann.

On 8th June 1839, Comfort gave birth to a daughter, whom she called Caroline. Sadly Caroline died as a baby when she was nine months old, being buried at Great Gaddesden on 22nd March 1840.

Later that year, on 21st September 1840, aged 23, Comfort married a man called Daniel Dean at Great Gaddesden. After their marriage they moved about thirteen miles south to Bushey, where they appear in the 1841 census living on Clay Hill, and where they had a daughter later in 1841.

By 1844 they had returned to Great Gaddesden. In total they had eight children together between 1841 and 1861. The 1851 and 1861 censuses each find Comfort, Daniel and their children living on Gaddesden Row in Great Gaddesden. Comfort worked as a straw plaiter, whilst Daniel was an agricultural labourer.

Comfort died a couple of weeks after her fiftieth birthday. She was buried at Great Gaddesden on 10th February 1867. Daniel survived her by eight years.
