Coert van Voorhees; born circa 1692 at Flatlands, Kings Co., NY; married Annetje van Dyck, daughter of Achias Jans van Dyck and Jannetje Lamberts, circa 1715.
He was a member of the Kings Co. militia in 1715. He is listed in the 1738 census of Flatlands with one male over ten, two under ten and one female under 10. They lived at Gravesend and moved to Sourland, NJ, and later to Harlingen, NJ. on 4 June 1741 Coert van Voorhees and Daniel Polhemus purchased Hop Island at the south branch of the Raritan River.
On 30 Jul 1746 Coert purchased 50 acres on the south branch of the Raritan. (This tract of land was sold by the heirs of Coert Voorhees, namely Albert, Aggias, Bernardus, and Jannetje wife of William van Brunt on 27 Feb. 1768.)
Coert bought the van Salee patent from his father 9 May 1747. Coert conveyed the property in New Utrecht to his sons Coert and Bernardus 5 Oct. 1756.
Stokes, The Van Voorhees Family, page 102 lists: "deeds at East Jersey proprietors book E, pg. 504, AB pg. 201, & AB6 pg. 1" which is apparently where these deeds can be found.
