  11. "An exciting experience came to Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Mesmore lastWednesday. When returning from her people near Overton they wereovertaken by a heavy rain and electrical storm. They found refuge in thechurch shed near Eight Square and in a very short time their horse wasstuck dead by the lightening, the shock of which caused Clyde to beunconscious for some time, having fallen to the ground as he wasstanding outside the buggy. Mrs. Mesmore and the baby felt no shockwhatever." -- found in Ashland Times Gazette
