He had blue eyes and brown hair and in 1918 he worked on his father'sfarm. They lived all their lives in Martin, Allegan, MI . He joined theMartin State Bank in 1921, where he was vice-president and cashieruntil 1965, when the Martin State Bank was purchased by the FirstNational Bank and Trust Co. of Kalamazoo. From that time until hisdeath he served as manager to the Martin Branch of the Bank. He was abanker for 45 years. He was a board member and auditor of the MartinMethodist Church. He was a member of the Martin Board of Educationfrom 1923 until 1948 when he resigned to become a member of theAllegan County Intermediate School Boards, awarded in recognition andappreciation of distinguished service rendered to public education.He was a member of the Pipp Community Hospital Board in Plainwell,past master of the Bradley Masonic Lodge and was a member of theI.O.O.F. Lodge. He was a member of the Martin Library Board, wasMartin township treasurer for 26 years, in his earlier life has been adirector of Boy Scout Clubs, active in PTA, Red Cross, and many civicfunctions. Wicks operated the Wicks Insurance Agency for 30 years.
