Bio: A celebration of life service for Clifford Zabka, DDS, 71, will be held at 4 p.m. today, at Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia. The Rev. John Hall, Dr. Paul Petersen and the Rev. Larry Wentzel will officiate.Born Dec. 23, 1928, in Chicago, he passed away Sunday, June 25, 2000, at home from complications of cancer. Interment will be in West Batavia Cemetery.Clifford grew up in Chicago and received his dental degree from Northwestern University in 1954. He served as a dentist in the Navy for two years. After his discharge from the Navy, he established a dental practice in Aurora, which he maintained for 43 years until his retirement in Sept. 1999.He was very active throughout his life. He enjoyed travel, camping, hunting, fishing, and golf. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and enjoyed sharing these activities with his family. He loved music and shared his gifts in church choirs and social organizations. He was a strong and dynamic man who touched the lives of all who knew him and will be greatly missed.Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Alma Joyce; brothers, twin brother, Clifton (LiLo) Zabka of Atlanta, Ga., Dr. George Zabka of San Diego, Calif., Stanley (Nancy) Zabka of Grass Valley, Calif. and Dr. Robert (Shirley) Zabka of Leesburg, Fla.; children, Janice (Michael) Appel of North Aurora, Jayne (Kevin) Appel of North Aurora, Cris Zabka of Granada Hills, Calif., Jami (Gerry) Boarman of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Craig (Denise) Zabka of San Diego, Jodi (Tim) Murtaugh of St. Charles, Chet (Johnni) Zabka of Aurora, Jeni (Mike) Crowe of St. Charles, and Curt (Tosha) Zabka of Frisco, Texas; and 13 grandchildren.He was preceded in death by four brothers; three sisters; and beloved son, Chad Matthew Zabka.Fellowship will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the celebration of life service, at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 N.
