Clement Law Stewart ELWELL (b. 18jul1869, Bedminster, Somerset), son of Rev A O Elwell (web, bmd) was chr 30aug1869 at Tenby, Pembroke (IGI). Clement was educated at Marlborough and Worcester College, Oxford, and d. 1956; from 1894 he practised as a solicitor at Wellington, Somerset ("Iron Elwells"). Clement married Ethel ("Iron Elwells"). Clement Law S. Elwell married Ethel Elizabeth PARRY 2nd qtr 1902 at Kendal, and had a son, Lionel Stewart (b. 3rd qtr 1904, Wellington, Somerset) (bmd). Ethel Elizabeth Parry was b. 3rd qtr 1873 at Atcham (includes Shrewsbury, Shropshire) (bmd). In 1881 Edwin Parry (1840 Leeds, civil engineer), and, b. Shrewsbury, Shropshire, wife Sarah A. (1851), daughter Ethel E. (1874), were at Shrewsbury (census). Lionel was educated at Marlborough and Worcester College, Oxford, and became a horse trainer ("Iron Elwells"). Clement studied at Worcester Coll., Oxford, married and d. 1956 (P. Elfick). In 1881 Clement was a pupil at uncle William’s school at Weston S.M. (census). In 1901 Clement L.S. Elwell (1870 Long Ashton) was a boarder at a farm in Shropshire (census). In 1911 Clement Elwell (1870 Long Ashton, Somerset, private means), wife Ethel (1874 Shrewbury, Shropshire, marr 8 yrs), son Lionel (1905 Wellington) were at Wellington, Somerset (census). In 1919 Clement Law Stewart Elwell was at Foxcote, Bradford, Taunton, Somerset (Kelly’s directory). In 1940 CLS Elwell was at Foxcote (phonebook).
