Funeral services for Clay B. Partridge were held here Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. from the Kelley Funeral Home, Rev. Arthur G. Bailey of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment was made in the family lot at Necropolis cemetery of this place.
The remains were brought here Monday from Maine where Mr. Partridge died March 2 at Rumford in the northern part of the state. Relatives from away attending the funeral were Mrs. D.G. Palmer, a sister, of Glendale, California, and he brother, Dr. Walter H. Partridge and wife of Minneapolis. He is survived by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Sneath, a son, Richard, and two grandchildren, besides his father, H.J. Partridge of Long Beach, California, Mrs. D.G. Palmer, Glendale, California, and Dr. W.H. Partridge of Minneapolis. He was living at Portland, Maine, where his family resides, being connected with Butler Bros., New York City with his territory in Maine.
Mr. Partridge was born in Tracy October 22, 1884, was educated in the local schools, and entered the Partridge Bros. store, the leading dry goods establishment here at that time. He worked up to be secretary when it was incorporated. Branching out later himself, he owned a ready wear store at Faribault for two years, became editor for a like period of the Dry Goods Reporter, a Chicago trade paper, and his next step was to become merchandise manager of stores in Wisconsin, and at the time of his death was connected with Butler Bros., New York City.
"Clay", as he was known to his many friends about town, was genial and cheerful in his makeup, in business he was aggressive and alert, a good friend and neighbor and devoted family man, who found his greatest joy in his growing family. He had suffered untold disappointment and trouble through sickness in the family and his own health of late years.
