His parents moved from Navarro to New London while he was at home. He worked for Jake at Jacks grocery store in New London. He was working at the time the New London School explosion. He had been to the school earlier that day to get a check for some groceries the school had ordered for a party. the superintendent's secretary told him to come back after lunch. He was on his way back and sitting at the intersection up from the school when the explosion happened. the secretary was killed. Clark helped transport bodies in a truck that belong to the grocery store. Clark married Frankie Lee Higgenbotham in 1933. She passed away in 1938. Clark enlisted in the Army in 1941. Trained at Ft. Lewis., Wash., an San Francisco, CA. Served in Pearl Harbor and Lzon. He married Lelma Ruth Mims in 1946. Had one daughter with each wife. About 1947 he worked for his brother in law, Rip (R.A. Crouch) that owned a filling station. He owned his own station around 1949-1951. They moved from the New London and Overton area to Tyler, TX when Clark retired.(SB) 6/18/01 Margert Rose: Lived in New London,TX Frankie passed away. And Carole was raised by her grandmother Higginbotham. Clark went into the service. When he got out, he went back to New London. He married Ruth Mims, they had 1 daughter, Sherri. After they retired they moved out of Grove Lake, just outside Whitehouse. They have both passed away, buried at Pleasant Hill in East TX.
