"Miss Clarissa Sage was born in Monroe county, N.Y., January 12, 1823. She was one of a family of nine children, six boys and three girls. She was married to Buryl G. Gunn January 28, 1845, to them four children were born, Mr. C. G. Gunn of this city being the only one living.

When the call came for volunteers, the husband and fatgher bid good-bye to wife and children and went to serve his country, were he died during the war. In 1868 she was married to Eli Chandler, who departed this life April 12, 1881.

After an illness of seven weeks, although all was done that medical skill and loving hands could do, she passed away Dec. 1st. She leaves three brothers, one son, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild to mourn her departure."
