Clarence E. Laughner was born July 6, 1928, in Fairfield Township, the only child of Henry C. and Rebecca Jane (West) Laughner.
He graduated from Ligonier High School in 1946.
Clarence served as a staff sergeant for the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was employed by Westinghouse in Blairsville for more than 31 years prior to his retirement in 1986.
Clarence helped to maintain the Chestnut Ridge Community Building for many years; and he loved to garden, particularly potatoes.
He and his wife were very active district directors for the NCHA/CRV for 43 years and were members of the former Fort Ligonier Chapter.
He was a member, elder and clerk of session for more than 23 years for Fort Palmer Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
At the age of 85, Clarence E. Laughner, of Latrobe, formerly of Ligonier, died Saturday, March 8, 2014, in the Latrobe Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
He was survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Hazel (Ament) Laughner; three children, Barbara Mae Mulligan, of Conneaut Lake, Patricia Jane (Andrew) Spirko, of Greensburg, and James Edward (Lynn) Laughner, of Wadsworth, Ohio; five grandchildren, John and Brian Mulligan, Brendan and Katrina Spirko and Joshua Laughner; and three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kolson and Ripley Mulligan.
