Death Claims Coroner at Olive Hill C. Henderson Succums Wednesday After Long Illness Ashland Daily Independent January 30, 1947 Olive Hill, KY., Jan. 30---Residents of Olive Hill and eastern Kentucky were grieved today to learn of the death of Clarence W. Hendereson, Sr., 63, one of the communities most prominent citizens. He died at the home of a son, Leslie Hnderson at 6 p.m. yesterday after an illness of several months. Mr. Henderson was born, June 25, 1883, the son of R. Z. and Arilda Henderson and had spent his entire lifetime here. In 1903, he took over undertaking business established by his father in 1872. Mr. Henderson was in public for many years and held numeous positions. He attended the John Mass School of Embalmers at Louisville and at the time of death was president of the Eastern Kentucky Embalmers Association. He was a veteran of World War I and had served as coroner he was prominet as an investigator in several murder cases. He was a member of the state parole board during the administeration of Governor W.J. Fields. He served on the local draft board during World War II and was City Clerk of Olive Hill for 12 years. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. (CST) at the Nazarene Church with the Rev. H. C. Frodge, paster and the Rev. Calvin H. Smith officiating. Burial will be made in the Junior Order of United American Mechanics Cemetery under the direction of the Carpenter-Wlingel Funeral Home of Huntington, W.Va. The body will lie in state at the church one hour preceding the funeral. The body is at the home. The pallbearers will be J. R. Duncan, E.L. Raybourn, R. T. Kennard, Mayor S. C. Tabor, Edward Jordan, J. F. Kirby, A. W. McCarthy and L. B. Zimmerman. Mr. Henderson is survived by five children, Elizabeth Janison, Nashville, Tenn., C. W. Henderson, Jr., Grayson, Ky., Leslie, Jack and Betty Jo, all of Olive Hill. References
