Clara was an accomplished opera soprano and singing teacher. She studied in Italy under the sponsorship of Mark B. Claff, and debuted in La Boheme in Milan. She died in the early 1990s. During the intial stages of World War II Clara was involved with a wealthy Italian who showered her with diamonds. She did not dare to return to Italy to marry him because of the political situation, but she sent him CARE packages. She never married.
