" FUNERAL OF LATE MRS. E. W. BROOKS The death occurred at the Colchester County Hospital, on July 9, of Mrs. E.W. Brooks, 36 Elm Street, Truro, in her 91st. year, after an illness of four months duration. The deceased was, before her marriage, Miss Clara Eve Reid, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Reid, of Summerside, P.E.I. She received her early education in Prince Edward Island and, in her young womanhood, went to Boston , Mass., where she trained for the nursing profession, later returning to her native province where she lived a life of unselfish service to her family. Although of a quiet, retiring nature, the late Mrs. Brooks was possessed of an extremely happy disposition, which made her most popular with a wide circle of friends, both in Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. The funeral service was held Ontario Thursday afternoon, July 11, with Rev. C. Earle Gordon, the officiating clergyman. Internment was in Robie Street Cemetery. The late Mrs. Broooks is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. Grace Clay, 41 Pleasant Street; also, two nephews, Lt. Col. M.A. Clay, Ottawa; Harvey R. Clay, Hartford, Conn.; and two nieces, Mrs. R.S. Topper, of West Hartford, Conn., who arrived in Truro last week; and Miss Gwendolyn Clay of the Regional War Labour Board, Halifax, who spent last weekend at home.
