Clara E. Schneider (January 10, 1910 - October 31, 2013)

Clara Schneider, 103, of Chippewa Falls, went to her eternal reward on Thursday evening October 31, 2013 at the Rutledge Home in Chippewa Falls with her family by her side.

She was born January 10, 1910 in Bloomer to Emma (Gick) and Louis Libersky. She attended St Paul’s Catholic Church is Bloomer until she received her Solemn Communion, then completed her education at a country school near her parents’ home in the town of Auburn.

She married William Schneider October 8th 1929 at St. Paul’s in Bloomer. The couple then moved to a farm in Tilden. After 18 years of marriage, Clara became a widow with 8 living children ages 6 weeks to 16 years. She succeeded in raising her children on the farm, and sacrificed to give them a Catholic Education. Her children are very proud of her courage in adversity and are eternally grateful to her. In 1960 she sold her farm and moved to Chippewa Falls.

She worked as a housekeeper at St. Joseph’s Hospital until retirement and had several part-time domestic jobs. Clara liked to bake (she made the best pies), and always had a vegetable garden and flowers. She enjoyed her grand and great-grandchildren, and liked playing cards, bingo, and going to the casino. Fishing from the boat was an enjoyment for her when vacationing at the lake. In her later years she delighted her family by becoming an avid Packer fan; rarely missing a game on TV. She belonged to the Funeral Committee at St Charles and was a member of the Moose Lodge #770 in Chippewa Falls.

We will miss her sense of humor, her kindness, and her independent spirit.

She is survived by six sons and two daughters: John (Marilyn), Norman (Eileen), William (Ann), Joseph (Margaret), Robert (Judy), Patricia (Joe Michels), Richard (Donna), Judith (Jim Moe); one sister, Louisa Leavens, Bloomer; 36 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Schneider on June 23, 1947; and daughter, Corrine Emma on October 1, 1935; her parents, Louis and Emma Libersky; five brothers, Frank, Herbert, Harold, Edward and Louis; four sisters, Josephine Libersky, Anna Wold, Emma Berning and Edna Rothbauer; also, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 6 at St. Charles Church in Chippewa Falls. The Very Rev. Ed Shuttleworth will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in the town of Tilden.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 5 and until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. The Ladies of St. Charles will recite the rosary at 4 p.m., there will be a Christian vigil service at 5 p.m. and the Women of the Moose #770 will conduct a Moose ritual at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Memory Care Unit at the Rutledge Home for the loving care they gave our Mother in her last days here on earth. We also wish to thank Mayo Hospice Care for seeing Mom through this difficult time.
