    Assumed to be from Somerset and part of the Norfolk, Virginia, HUTCHINGS - Family Full Context of Pittsylvania County, Virginia History.
    Lived circa 1720 - 1807 in Virginia. He was probated May 20, 1807. He lived near Concord in Halifax County, later called Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was there during the Revolutionary War. In 1780 he entered 2,462 acres of land in Pittsylvania County. Other land grants were given in 1788, 1792, and 1796.
    The first known record of Christopher is "Caroline Co., VA Order Book": 1732-1740 (Part 3) states: 14 Mar. 1739/40, Housen Kenner paid Christopher Hutchings and John Bush each, 175 pounds of tobacco for one day attendance and coming and going 50 miles once, as an evidence for George Kenner; agent, Thomas Roy (court case).
    According to the "Draper Papers", a letter from Robert Chester, 29 March 1844: Tradition record from Mary Jane Hays, his mother-in-law, states that Christopher Hutchings, the ancestor, came from England among the early settlers in Virginia.
    Married Elizabeth Parks, daughter of Thomas and Sarah Miller Parks.
