A transcription of his PCC will: This is the last Will and Testament of me Christopher Breese Hall of Newtown in the County of Montgomery Tanner by me made duly published and declared this seventeenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty four I give and bequeath to my Son Christopher Hall all that my public house called the Black boy and also those two dwellinghouses Malthouse stables and Garden with the appurtenances to the same belonging and all other if any my freehold property situate in Bridge Street in Newtown aforesaid To hold to him his heirs and assigns for ever I give and devise to my Son James Hall all that my dwelling house in which I now reside the Tan yard Stables and barkshots with all and singular the appurtenances to the same belonging and also all those seven dwellinghouses adjoining the last mentioned and described dwelling house and Tanyard To hold to him his heirs and assigns for ever I give and devise to my Son Matthew Hall all that my messuage or tenement farm and lands called the wain situate in the parish of Bettws and also all those thirteen messuages or dwelling houses situate on the Green in Newtown aforesaid and all other if any my freehold property on the Green aforesaid together with all the appurtenances to the said messuage or tenement farm and lands and messuages or dwellinghouses respectively belonging or in any wise appertaining To hold him his heirs and assigns for ever subject and charged and chargeable with the payment of the sum of two hundred pounds to his Brother Christopher Hall when Matthew will be of the age of twenty one years I give and devise to my Son John Hall all that my dwellinghouse Garden two Manufactories Malthouse and twenty or more dwellinghouses adjoining the River Severn and all other if any my freehold property adjoining the River Severn aforesaid with all and singular the appurts to the same belonging To hold to him his heir and assigns for ever subject to a road through the passage from the Tanyard by me devised to my said Son James to the River Severn. I give and devise to my Son Edward Hall all that my messuage or tenement farm and lands called Cwmbr situate in the parish of Moughtrey and also all that my messuage or tenement farm and lands called the Bushes situate in the parish of Newtown aforesaid together with all and singular the appurtenances to teh same respectively belonging or in any wise appertaining To hold to him his heirs and assigns for ever I give and bequeath to my said Son Hall all the Store of Leather bark hair and other articles in the Tanning trade which I shall be possessed of and I hereby direct the same to be valued as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and the tanning trade or business to be carried on by my said wife until my Son James shall be of the age of twenty one years the trade afterwards to be carried on conjointly by my said wife [... Hall during the term of the life of my said wife] and at the death or as soon after the death of my said wife as conveniently may be the said Stock in trade to be again valued and if the same should be increased in value then I do hereby direct that my said son James Hall shall pay the amount of such increased value to my personal Estate fund or if the same should be decreased in value then I do hereby direct that the amount of such decrease shall be paid to my said son James Hall out of my said personal Estate and such payment to be made within twelve months next after my said wifes decease and I do hereby charge my said Stock in trade so by me given and bequeathed to my said Son James Hall in manner aforesaid with the payment of the clear sum of six hundred pounds to my personal Estate fund within twelve months next after my said wifes decease I give and bequeath to my four daughters Ann Margaret Hester and Mary the sum of nine hundred pounds each five hundred pounds each to be paid within twelve months next after the decease of my said wife and I do hereby direct that my said wife shall reside in my dwelling house now in my own occupation with my said Son James for and during the term of her natural life or as long as she shall remain my widow without payment of any rent and it is my will and meaning and I do hereby direct my Executrix and Executor hereinafter named to receive and take the rents issues and profits of the freehold property by me above devised until my said several devisees shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years but to pay and apply the rent to or towards their support and education I give and bequeath to my said Son James Hall after the decease of my said wife all the household goods and furniture in the dwelling house now in my occupation I give and bequeath to my Said Sons Christopher Matthew John and Edward the sum of four hundred pounds each to be paid [several words illegible] executor when they shall severally attain the age of twenty one years and subject to the payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate and effects from and after the decease of my said wife to my Sons Christopher Matthew John and Edward in equal proportions as share and share alike and in case of the death of any or either of my said children leaving lawful issue then I do hereby give and bequeath the share or shares of him her or them so dying to and amongst such issue in equal moieties and in the event of any or either of them dying without such issue then I do hereby direct the legacy or legacies share or shares of him her or them of any said personal Estate to be equally divided between all my surviving children share and share alike and in case of the death of either of my said Sons without such issue then I do hereby give and devise the freehold property by me before respectively given and devised to them to my said Executrix and Executor her or his heirs or assigns To hold the same to them and the Survivor of them her and his heirs and assigns In trust to sell the same for the best price or sum of money that can be had or gotten for the same whose receipts to the purchaser or purchasers thereof shall be a good and sufficient discharge and to apply and divide the money to arise therefrom after payment of all reasonable expences to an amount all my surviving sons and daughters in equal proportions and it is my will and meaning that if my said wife shall intermarry after my decease that she shall immediately afterwards give up possession of my said dwelling house and of the trade and business to my said Son James Hall and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife and Richard Hamer of havod in the parish of Moughtrey Executrix and Executor of this my last will and Testament and I do hereby direct that my Sons James John and Edward shall be permitted to act and participate in the trusts of this my will upon their severally attaining the age of seventeen years and I do hereby revoke and make void all former will or wills by me at any time heretofore made In witness whereof I the said Testator Christopher Breese Hall have to this my last will and testament contained on four sheets of paper set my hand to the first three sheets and my hand and seal to this the fourth and last sheet the day and year above written - Christopher Brees Hall - SS - Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator Christopher Breese Hall as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses.
