Blankenship Cove was originally called Borden Cove and was settled by the family of Christopher Borden. The lower portion of the cove is located primarily in Section 2 of Township 8 South and Range 8 West on the upper portion of Borden Creek. The upper portion of Blankenship Cove extends through the northeast part of Section 34 and 35 of Township 7 South and Range 8 West. Some of the Borden family originally settled along portions of the cove adjacent to Borden Creek.
