Emigrated to America in 1880. Returned to Germany for a visit in 1928. Locomotive Engineer on the Illinois Central Railroad. Lived in Cairo, Kankakee, Chatsworth, and Burnside (Chicago), IL. Member of Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division 10 from 11 Sep 1892 to 1929.
Passport number 504005 issued 6 Mar 1928.
Lived at 9427 Burnside Ave, Chicago, about half a block from the ICRR suburban passenger station at 95th Street. The home was not in the Burnside neighborhood, but was so close that his sons always said they grew up in "Burnside".
