From family records, a copy of a Declaration of Pension dated December 26, 1914, shows Christian Trost enlisting on January 10, 1862 at Indianapolis, Indiana in the 11th Battery Indiana Light Artillery in the Civil War. He was honorably discharged on January 7, 1865. The certificate also shows he was 5' 6" tall, with dark complexion; blue eyes; dark hair; and his occupation was an Artillery Saddler. It also lists that he lived in Mascoutah, Illinois for one year after the war, then moved to Summerfield, Illinois for 21 years, then moved to Trenton, Illinois until his death.
