!During several years of his life Christian naturally bore the surname of"Olson", that is Ole's son, though his father had the surname of Ampian.When Christian married he went to live with his wife's parents and in allprobability took the name of Birgerslia, the latter being the name of thebride's father's farm. However, he soon bought the place and renamed it"Westby" which thus became his surname. He retained the initial "O"indicative of the fact that he was once named Olson. This informationgathered by Mrs. Cleve Westby. In the 1900 federal census, he goes byChristian Westby.
