BAUMHOLDER is a town about 20 miles southwest of WALDGREHWEILER, in the Palatinate, from where many of the early Urbana area pioneers had migrated.

Other related families of Tuscarawas County, Ohio had their origins in Baumholder, such as the Conrad and Rausch families. In modern times there are other Grimm families living in Jefferson Township, Tuscarawas County, but no connection has been found.

Christian migrated to Wabash County, Indiana after February 1850. He was listed as one of the 18 founders of St. Peter's Church in Urbana. He owned a wagon shop in Urbana.

CHRISTIAN is as far back in time that we know of this line. However, Dorothy Keffer Glazier, a Tuscarawas County professional genealogist, working for a few of us many years ago, discovered a letter from Breungenborn, in the Palatinate, dated 25 Feb 1850. It described a wedding ceremony, and a dinner in Baumholder, at Wilhelm GRIMM's. The letter mentions some in the Arth and Leonhardt families, related to a Peter Jacob (Arth?) in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. The letter was very interesting as it described conditions in the Palatine community at the time Christian Grimm was migrating from Tuscarawas County, Ohio to Wabash County, Indiana.
