From the Edgerton Reporter: Mrs. Varnum Wescott
Cloe Whitford was born in Alfred, Alleganey Co., NY, in December 1824, where her early life was spent. She was married to Varnum Wescott, Oct. 12th, 1843 and a year later came to Wisconsin and settled on their present homestead in the town of Albion. At that time there were but four frame houses in the township. The deceased has been in delicate health for some years and when attacked by the prevailing epidemic, the grip, she was unable to withstand its ravages, passing away Tuesday morning, April 14th, aged nearly 67 years. Mrs. Wescott was the mother (of) three sons, two of whom reached manhood, Earle, who lives in Minnesota, and Jay residing with his parents on the farm. Funeral services were held from her late home Thursday, April 16th, conducted by Rev. H Sewell, and the remains of a good wife and mother were laid to rest inf Fassett cemetery.
