State of New Hampshire Court of Probates of ___ County of Grafton. On this fifteen day of March in the year eighteen hundred & fifty-three personally appeared before the court of Probate for said County __ in said County Chloe Mardin (in open court before the Judge ___) she being __ a resident of Lyman in said County aged sisty-six years who being duly sworn according to law on her oath and made the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provissions made by act of Congress February 3, 1853 __ an act to continue __ pay to certain Widows & orphans that she is the widow of Edward Marden who was a soldier in the War of the Revolution and served as a Private. That at the time of his death he was in the receipt of a Pension from the United States at the rate of ninety six dollars per annum under the act of March 18, 1818. That his name was on the Roll of the Concord N.H. Pension Agency. She further declares that she was married to the said Edward Mardin on the twenty seventh Day of May in the year eighteen hundred and thirty one. That her husband aforesaid died on the sixteenth day of March of 1835 and that she was married to him at the time above stated. She further swears that she was a widow at the passage of the act and is still a widow and that her name before her said marriage was Chloe Barnes that she has not applied for a Pension before.
