Rather a peculiar combination . . ."

From the North Jersey History & Genealogy Center at the Morristown and Morris Township Library:

Chillion Ford DeCamp, the fourth child of Joseph and Jane Tuttle DeCamp, was born on July 9, 1793 in Rockaway. He was an iron master with an iron works at Rockaway and at Charlotteburg. Chillion had the inherited the iron interests of his mother, Jane Tuttle DeCamp. She in turn had come by these properties through her parents Moses and Jane Ford Tuttle. Chillion was married three times.

After several years Chillion turned the operation of the mines over to his son Edward. Edward was never able to make a success of the mines and when he was in risk of losing the mine Chillion attempted to save the mine by investing his entire savings though he too was unsuccessful. Chillion died in Newark on February 27, 1876 and is buried with his first wife in the Rockaway churchyard.
