Notes

  • His father died when he was about 9 years old. He told his wife and daughter that his father was a stern Methodist who did not allow card playing, dancing or liquor. All day every Sunday the entire family had to sit and read the Bible.
  • His mother Clotilda remarried when Chester was about 14, at which time he moved in with his sister, Etta (Dietta), and her husband, but Chester did not like Parker and did not stay long.
  • Moved to Colorado when he was 16.
  • At some point Chester lived with his brother Chauncy and his wife, Kathryn. Chester and Chauncy saved their money and bought a wagon and a pair of horses and headed West.
  • Chester worked at many jobs. He helped build a railroad near the Arizona-Mexico border.
  • At the time he married, he was employed delivering coal. His wife, Elizabeth, had moved to Pueblo in 1899 for a tuberculosis cure.
  • During the first year of marriage, Chester contracted rheumatic fever and rheumatoid arthritis. He was told he would never walk again and was bed-ridden until 1903. He then decided he would try to regain his strength. He went back to work at the coal company and tried to shovel coal. He worked at building up his muscles again and eventually got his old job back.
  • By January, 1904, Elizabeth was pregnant.
  • He may have died in Arriola, Montezuma, Colorado, USA
