    Chester Arthur East, died August 27, 1947 in France. Mr. and Mrs. John K. East, of Cape Sandy, have received the Purple Heart award for their son, Sgt. Chester A. East, who was killed in action in France on August 14, 1947. Another son, T/5 Murrell M. E. East, is in India in the medical corps. Sergeant Chester East, of Cape Sandy, was killed in France August 14. He volunteered for service four years ago. A brother, Technician Fifth Grade Murrel M. East, is with the Army in India. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John K. East, a sister and two other brothers. Buried: East Cemetery.
