    The written deed of bargain and sale from William C. Mitchell to Charles Young for 152 1/2 [sic] acres of land to us exhibited in open court and a new or old agreement by the bargainers and ordered by the court being in attendance.

    This Indenture made this twenty second day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty by hand between William C. Mitchell of the one part and Charles Young of the other part both of the County of Wilson and state of Tennessee witnesseth (our hand?) for and in consideration of the sum of twelve hundred dollars to him the said William C. Mitchell in hand paid the ___ thereof is fully acknowledged by the said Mitchell to bargain sell and deliver to the said Charles Young said tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County and State of aforesaid on the water of Bradley's Creek, beginning at a Beech on Joseph Sharpe's east boundary line running thence south one hundred and eight poles to as white oak and two beaches [sic] James ___ ___ thence with his line east two hundred and twenty six poles to a white ash, thence west two hundred and twenty six poles to the beginning, containing one hundred and fifty-five [sic] and one half acres.

    To have and hold to him the said Charles Young his heirs and assigns forever and the said William C. Mitchell do for myself and my heirs descendants and administrators do warrant and forever defend the before mentioned land and premises to him the said Young and his heirs and assigns forever against the claim or claims of all persons or persons whatsoever. In testimony I here witness my hand and affix my seal this day and date above written signed and sealed and delivered in presence of us.

    The written bill of sale from Edmund Donaho, Joseph Sharp and Saml Deckings to Charles Young for a negro man named Sye was openly provided in open court by the oath of William Arnold or subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded.

    Wilson County December 27th day 1823. Know all men by these presents Joseph Sharp of the County and Edward Donaho of the County of Knox, Tennessee and Samuel Deckings of Madison County, Tennessee do herby transfer convey and deliver to Charles Young of Wilson County, Tennessee a slave named Sye age about 38 years apart and in consideration of Five Hundred Thirty Two dollars and 50 cents in hand paid the ___ ___ of me, do hereby acknowledge the above named negro man Sye, we warrant a slave for life and we do lively warrant and defend the title of the said slave Sye unto the said Charled Young and his execution and assigns forever against the claim of all and every other person or persons what so ever. In witness whereof we have here unto set our hands and seals the day and date above written.

    Personally appeared before me Josiah S McClain Clerk of the Co. Court of said Co. of Wilson, M H Alexander and James B Martin subscribing witnesses to the written deed who being sworn deposed and say they acknowledge the same to be their act and deed in their presence for the purposes therein expressed upon the day it bears date and Charles S. Young, David F C Rankin, Samuel Young, William L Young, J B Arnold, and H A Huguely, six of the written named bargainers with whom I am personally acquainted, personally appeared before me and acknowledge that they executed the written deed for the purposes therein contained, and Susan Rankin, Frances Arnold, and Eliza Huguely (the five ___) within named also personally appeared before me privately and apart from their husbands the said David F C Rankin, J B Arnold and H A Huguely and acknowledged the execution of said deed to have been done by them freely voluntarily and understandingly without compulsion restraint or coercion from their said husbands and for the purposed therein espoused.

    This Indenture made this 28th day of November 1846 by and between nine of the heirs of Charles Young dec. whose names are here to assign and John Young all of the Co. of Wilson and state of Tennessee. Witnesseth that we the undersigned do for an in consideration of nine hundred dollars to us paid by John Young do bargain, sell or deliver unto him a certain tract of land lying and being in the Co. of Wilson on the waters of Bradley's Creek. Beginning at a Beach on the east boundary line of the tract of land formerly owned by Joseph Sharpe running south one hundred and eight poles to a white oak and two beaches the corner of the old Bradley tract. Then east with said line two hundred and twenty six poles to a white ash black ash and haw bush then north one hundred and eight poles to a large white oak, then west two hundred and twenty six poles to the beginning containing one hundred and fifty two acres and one half. To have and to hold to him the said John Young and his heirs and assigns forever. And we the said heirs of Charles Young dec. do give our claim to warrant and forever defend the right and title to the before described land of our father Charles Young dec. from all and every lawful claim or claims of even our heirs or any other person or persons whatsoever unto him the said John Young (who is also an equal heir of the said Charles Young dec. with us) and his heirs and assigns forever. In testimony whereof we the aforesaid heirs ___ set our hands and affix our seals this day date above or before written signed sealed and delivered in presents of and attest
