Charles was an eminent Glasgow surgeon. Charles Wilsone, surgeon, was listed in Glasgow PO Directory of 1801 at Stockwell, west side, 1811 at 153 Stockwell and 1820 at 15 Buchanan St. with David Wilsone, surgeon. Charles and Jean had a daughter, Jean (b. abt 1796). Jane Wilsone married William Brown in 1817 (Memoirs and Portraits of 100 Glasgow men). Jean or Jane Wilson, daughter of Charles, married William Brown in 1817 (Latter Day Saints). Their son Charles Wilsone Brown married 1849 Annie Rowand (b. 1821), daughter of Michael Rowand of Linthouse. James Davidson (1772-1850) married Mary Wilsone 29aug1825 Glasgow (Latter Day Saints). Mary may have been born 3feb1789, Glasgow, daughter of Charles Wilsone and Jean Dickson (IGI). Scottish archives have the will of Mary Davidson or Wilsone, d. 19aug1875 at Ferncliff Villa, Wemyss Bay, reg. 1876 Paisley; Mary Davidson nee Wilson died 1875 aged 86 (scotlandspeople).

From 1st Glasgow Directory (1787): DR. CHARLES WILSONE A physician in extensive practice at the head of Stockwell Street, in 1787, and was the grandfather of Charles Wilsone Browne, the husband of the widow Swinfen. On the 10th January, in the year above named, Dr. Wilsone was knocked down in Argyle Street at night, and robbed by two men named Veitch and M'Aulay, who were tried and sentenced to death for the crime. At two o'clock on the 30th of May, they were taken out of the Tolbooth at the Cross, and up the High Street to the place of execution in the Castle Yard; but so great was the crush of people on the street, that a halt was made, and refreshments served out to the prisoners at the "Bell of the Brae," and a whole hour was spent in reaching the Castle Yard. Both prisoners were duly executed, along with a man named Gentles, who suffered death for robbing a bleachfield.
