1820 - Baptism: Charles, son of Henry WICKS and Ann. Record gives date of birth.

1840 - Sawyer of East Street, Lambeth, Surrey. (Marriage)

1841 - Appears to be with his wife residing with his father and sister at Wellington Place, St Mary Newington, Lambeth, Surrey. Sawyer, aged 20, born in the county.

1851 - With wife and two sons at 12 Guildford Street, St Peter Walworth, Newington, Surrey. Wood sawer?, aged 30, born at Walworth, Surrey.

1856-1857 - Charles and Mary Ann came to Australia on Balnaguith. It reached Australia in January 1857. They brought 2 children with them - William, aged 3 and Eliza, aged 1. However, Eliza died during the voyage.

1874 - Charles' death certificate lists 3 living children - William, Henry and Thomas and also indicates that there were 4 children who had died. These 4 would be Charles, George, Eliza, and one not yet known. Charles' death was recorded in the Argus and the details are on the internet at http://home.ozconnect.net/tfoen/alfred1.htm. The entry reads: Charles Wicks, aged 54, labourer, native of Surrey; arrived in 1857, vessel unknown; died 1st July [1874], of chronic bronchitis.
