"He was assistant master in the Bath, Me., High School until 1889, master of the Bridgton High School until 1892, and in 1893 entered the law offic of Hon. R.N. Chamberlain of Berilin. NH. He later entered the law school of Boston University, from which he graduated in 1895, and was admitted to the Suffolk bar in the same year. He then became connected with the law office of Major Henry Winn, but in 1896 entered the office of J. Otis Wardwell. Mr. Wardwell was elected a member of the Newton Board of Aldermen in 1900 and 1901, and is a member of the Theta Delta Chi Society and the Blue Lodge of Masons. CHARLES HENRY WARDWELL, son of Henry Frost Wardwell (M.D., Bowdoin, 1853), and Almira E. (Head) Wardwell. was born 28 February, 1862. at Gorham, N. H. He was prepared for college at Bridgton Academy and the High School at Berlin, N. H.. which was his residence during his college course. After graduation he became first assistant in the Bath High School, a position he filled with credit till 1890 when he became principal of the High School at Bridgton, Maine. He met with marked success as a teacher here and his resignation two years later was received by his pupils with regret. He pursued the study of law at Berlin, N. H., and at Boston University where he received the degree of LL.B. in 1895. Having been admitted to the Suffolk County bar the same year he practiced his profession in Boston till his death. His residence was at Waban in Newton, and he served that city one term as an alderman. He died of pneumonia 29 May, 1907. Mr. Wardwell married, in 1896, Belle Morgan, daughter of Thomas L. and Lucy (Eager) Morgan, who survives him with their three children, Katherine Morgan.
