CHARLES Q. SMITH, 83, of Proctorville, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2004, at his residence. He was born September 22, 1921, in Midkiff, W.Va., a son of the late Ballard and Dovetta White Smith. He was a sheet metal worker and an Army World War II veteran. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Smith; one brother, Holly Smith and one sister, Marcelle Cummings. He is survived by niece, Toni Brown of South Charleston, W.Va.; one half sister, Gloria Bellomy of Newark, Ohio, and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004, at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, W.Va., with Paul Stevens and Farm Nelson officiating. The burial will follow in Fairview Memory Gardens, Hamlin, W.Va., where American Legion Post #111 will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
