CHARLES FREEMAN SIMMERS
Charles Freeman Simmers Sr., 48 years old, of Grapeville, died at his home Tuesday morning. He was born in Stewartsville, the son of the late James R. Simmers and Mrs. Susan Simmers, and had been a resident of Grapeville for 40 years. He was employed by the Westmoreland Glass company for many years but lately had been in the employ of the Westinghouse company. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Mr. Simmers was a member of the Grapeville fire company and the Grapeville chorus and took an active interest in baseball and other sports, and was familiarly known as "Chubby." Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Carrie Painter Simmers, and the following children: Charles Jr., Larimer; Mrs. Ruth Dumsick, Jeannette; Clyde, Irwin; Howard, Gladys and Agnes, at home; his mother, Mrs. Susan Simmers; three grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters: James, John, Carl, Mrs. James Steiner, Mrs. Ida Cloherty, Mrs. Elizabeth Fulmer, Mrs. Anna Grundy, all of this vicinity, and Mrs. Mary Morris, Newark O. Funeral services will be held from the home of his mother in Seventh street, Grapeville, at 1:45 o'clock Friday afternoon, with the main service in St. Mark's Lutheran Church at 2:30 o'clock conducted by his pastor Rev. Charles F. Wisler. Interment will be made in the Brush Creek cemetery.
