Facts and Events
Many of the descendents of Charles Rockhold of Sullivan Co. TN. are buried in the Rockhold- Wassam Cemetary, located approximately three and one-half miles east of Bluff City, TN. on the site of the original Charles Rockhold plantation, which covered hundreds of acres along the Holston River banks. It over looks Rockhold Road, now called Hickory Tree Road. Sadly the cemetery has been grossly neglected. There is no fence and the cows wander among the broken and blackened tombstones. Charles Rockhold was unfortunate in male heirs. His son William had only one son. Thomas had only one son, Thomas Jr., who grew to maturity and left no children. THIS IS INCORRECT. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH: THOMAS LEFT NO CHILDREN. THOMAS JR BELONGS TO HIS BROTHER CHARLES. sdta Francis has no sons. Charles Jr. left the area and went to Wayne County Iowa. There isn't anyone bearing the Rockhold name living in East Tennesee today. More About Charles Rockhold: Burial : Wassom Cem. near Bluff City, TN. from hayesclan.com:
