- 2 February 1838 - Deed transferring 73 acres from Charles and Eleanor McManis, his wife, to Andrew McManis is recorded in Adams County Courthouse in West Union. The property was on the waters of the west fork of Brush Creek, and the selling price was $146.00.

- McMannes, Charles, born 1762 in York County, Pennsylvania; soldier & family driven by Indians 9/17876 from their home on frontier settlement of western Pennsylvania, & took shelter at Ligonier Garrison, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; entered service there in 1780 with brother James in Virginia regiment; received Pension 1832 in Brown County, Ohio, resided in Jackson Township; brother James resided there then; query letter in file states soldier married Ellen, moved abt. 1815 to Brown County, Ohio & died near Winchester, Ohio, & their son Joseph born 1796 in Pennsylvania; query letter in file states soldier was buried in Cherry Fork, (Adams County), Ohio. FS2807, R1696.
