(Research):Children of Charles and Jeanne Bazin: Ann and Marie are two different children (I had the same error for a while). Ann was born in 1819 and married Nicholas Dumaresq. Both Ann and Marie were present in the 1841 Census. There were two more children Edouard, b. 1818, and Charlotte, b. 1829. Charlotte was apparently the last child of Jeanne Bazin. Her birth is not recorded (?), but she appears in the 1841 Census (after the death of Jeanne and with Charles in the poor house) living with Ann and acted as godmother to children of Edward. There is no one else available to be her parents

The core Luxon Family (1750-1950), The core Luxon family begins with Charles Luxon born in 1782 almost certainly in Cornwall county of (Southwestern) England and possibly at St. Gennys on the coast of Cornwall. His father was John Luxon. The family appears to be mariners as will be more evident later. I observed the banns of marriage for his first marriage Mary Hambly in Talland, Cornwall, England, and have a copy of the record of this. I also have a copy of the birth registry of his first son Charles. Later sons William and Charles were also born there. However, there is no earlier evidence of Luxons in Talland (i.e. before 1800) Charles moved to Saint Peter Port, Channel Islands apparently after the death of his wife. There is a notation that Mary Hambly died in Talland, England in 1804. It is not clear that he took his children from the first family with him, but son John was recorded as being in the Channel Is as early as 1822, when he was recorded in the book of foreigners. William was similarly in the Channel Islands at a relatively early age. Charles' oldest son Charles disappeared from the records although one tale in the Channel Islands is that he sent funds to his father from Hong Kong. Another tale was that he was recognized among pirates boarding a ship at sea.

Charles (Sr.) married Jean Bazin in 1807, and they produced seven children including Stephen. Their last child was apparently Charlotte, who was noted living with some of her siblings in the 1841 census, but no birth record has been found. Jeanne died in 1837, and Charles was noted to be living in the "Hospital" (poor house?) as a pauper in the 1841 Census at age 65. When he died a few months later, he was listed as 68 years old. This would place his birth several years earlier than given above. It is appropriate to note that almost certainly the Luxons remaining in the CI today are his offspring.

Stephen Luxon, son of Charles b. 1825, was not found in the 1841 or 1851 Censuses. He went to London to marry Elizabeth Norris (1853). Her parents were identified from among three candidates by the naming of their third child James Norris, after naming the first after Elizabeth and the second after Charles. This is reinforced by the birthplaces she gave in later censuses. Stephen and his wife stayed near London for several years but they returned St Peter Port for the births of their last four children. He is found there in the 1861 Census. His occupation was variously listed as mariner or bargeman. In 1871, He is again found in London with his family. In, 1881, his family is in London with his wife listed as head (it is unclear if 'widow' would have been listed in this census). In 1901, Elizabeth remains in London listed as a widow.

Stephen's son, James Norris Luxon, was with the family through the 1881 census, when they were in London. Here he married Emma Elizabeth Mansfield in 1882. The name is so common that her parents could not accurately be traced. James is listed as a zinc worker in 1881, and as a master plumber on the birth certificate of Ernest (1888). They had three children in London and then moved to Hamilton Ontario, Canada and had three more. Emma died in 1910 and the 1911 Census identified a second wife as Tilly.
