HIT-RUNNER FATALLY INJURES AREA MAN
A blockade was set up around Harrison City yesterday in an unsuccessful attempt to catch a hit-run motorist who fatally injured Charles "Cappy" Kistler, 70, Harrison City. Kistler resided on the south side of Rt. 130 about 100 yards east of the railroad crossing in Harrison City. Following a rainstorm he was shoveling debris from a ditch on the north side of the highway, just across from his home when he was struck by an eastbound car about 4 p.m. Kistler was born in Harrison City, March 5, 1894, son of the late Phillip and Catherine Hursh Kistler. His wife Amanda B., died in 1962. Kistler retired after 24 years with Westinghouse. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ and Franklin Township Beagle Hunting Club. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mable Beebe, Forest Hills, and Mrs. Virginia Bayus, with whom he resided; one brother, Joseph E., RD 6 Irwin; one sister, Mrs. Emma Mae Steffey Harrison City. Friends will be received at Miller-Witlatch Funeral Home, Jeannette, 2-5, 7-10 p.m. Services will be held there Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Philip Saylor in the absence of his pastor Rev. Rober C. Steele. Interment will be in Twin Valley Cemetery, Delmont.
