Charles Perce Keys, 88, of Fredericktown, died at 12:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 1981, in Greene County Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 10, 1893, in Deemston, a son of Otto and Julia Horton Keys.
A lifelong resident of the Deemston-Fredericktown area. Mr. Keys was a veteran of World War I and served with Battery D. 12th F.A., and division A.E.F. and was a warded the Silver Star for gallantry in action.
Mr. Keys was a charter member of the Hanson-Cole American Legion Post 391, Fredericktown, Beallsville Lodge 237 F.& AM, and the Coudersport Consistory. He was also a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Deemston.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Judy Campbell; three sons, Col. William M. Keys, U.S.M.C. in Arlington, Va. Charles D. Keys of Clinton, Md. and David L. Keys of Deemston, six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mabel Martin of Washington; and one brother, Laurie Keys of Brownsville.
His wife, Elizabeth Morgan Keys, died November 6, 1979. One sister and four brothers are also deceased.
