Kemper, Charles - born 6/27/1756 near Warrenton, Fauquier County, Virginia, where entered service 1777 while residing on father's farm; granted Pension 1833 in that County resided near Warrenton; died 12/1/1844; married in that County 11/29/1786 to Susanna Mawzey; widow granted Pension there in 1843 age 77; son mentioned but not named in 1843; query letter in file 1931 from Mrs. W.F. Simmons, Del Norte, Colorado, whose grandmother was daughter of Alexander Kemper, whose father was William Kemper, only son of soldier, further soldier was son of John Kemper II (b. 5/1722 in Germantown, Virginia), further William Kemper married Sarah Hils; query letter in file in 1913 from descendant Gladys Kemper, Granville, Illinois, states soldier was born in Germantown, Virginia & had son William; query letter in file states soldier had brother Peter who was also a Revolutionary War soldier; query letter in file states Peter Kemper died abt. 1822 in Cincinnati, Ohio. 46-440: 6 March 1822, Charles Kemper and wife Susannah, George Duncan and wife Peggy, Michael Muazy and Joseph Mauzy, heirs of Thomas Mauzy, to Violetta Mauzy, for $800, sell right, title, etc., which they inherited from said Thomas Mauzy, decd, land in Augusta Co. on waters of Long Meadows, 12 acres, land which Thomas Mauzy purchased from Jacob Crous and Rosannah his wife (no day) March 1820. All signed, no witnesses. Reg. in Fauquier Co., VA, for Kempers, Culpeper Co. for Duncans, Augusta Co. for Mauzys.
