From the Orillia Times, dated 23 April 1903- UDNEY- It is with deep felling of unfeigned sorrow that we announce the death of Chas. Holmes, which occurred at his home here on the 13th inst. For about a month he had been ailing, but to none did the thought occur that the angel of death was so near. Four of Orillia's skilled doctors were consulted, but his case baffled them all. Kind neighbors did all in their power to comfort him, and the best of care was taken to ease him of his sufferings, which he bore with patience and Christian fortitude to the last. He received the last rites of the church a few days before his death. The funeral on Wednesday morning was well attended. Requiem high mass was said by Rev. Father McRae. The vast number which proceeded the long funeral cortège to St. Andrew's church, testified abundantly the high esteem in which he was held. He leaves to morn his loss, a wife, eleven children, two sisters and one brother, to whom we extend our heartfelt sympathy.
