    “General Charles Henry Hall, Bengal Staff Corps, supernumerary list, died at Freiburg-in-Baden, Germany, on August 24, aged 67. He was the son of the late Mr. Charles Henry Hall, of the Diplomatic Service, and entered the army on December 29, 1844. He became lieutenant in 1853, captain in 1859, major in 1864, lieutenant-colonel in 1870, colonel in 1875, major-general in 1886, lieutenant-general in 1890, and general in 1894. He was placed on the unemployed supernumerary list in 1885.”
