Charles Green was baptised on 16th April 1797 at Walberton in Sussex, son of John and Ann Green.
On 10th October 1824, aged 27, he married Charlotte Edwards. She was from Pagham, on the Sussex coast, where they married and had all eleven of their children baptised. Most of their children's baptisms record that the family lived in the hamlet of Lagness. Charles worked as an agricultural labourer. Of the eleven children, three died young.
The 1841 census finds Charles, Charlotte, their children and one of Charlotte's nephews, Henry Bailey, living at Lagness. Charles appears to have lived at Lagness working as an agricultural labourer for over fifty years; he was first recorded there in 1827 with the baptism of his second child, appears there in each census from 1841 to 1871 (although Charlotte was away from home on census night in 1861) and he was living there immediately before his death in 1879. He was buried at Pagham on 7th February 1879. He was about 82 years old. Charlotte survived him by nearly eight years.

Baptisms 1797 / Charles Son of John & Ann Green - 16th April
Whilst no named connection has been found, this baptism has been linked to the Charles Green who married Charlotte Edwards in 1824 on the basis that in the censuses he consistently claimed to have been born around 1797 in Walberton. No evidence has been found to suggest that the Charles baptised in 1797 died young nor married anyone else.
