    C. C. FRENCH, a resident of the Farnsworth and Spearman communities for the past ten years, passed away at the Shattuck, Okla. hospital Wednesday, September 22. HE had been a patient in the hospital for five weeks and during that time had submitted to two major operations in an effort to regain his health.

The body was taken to Pawnee Rock, Kansas, and buried in the family lot by the side of two children who preceded him in death.

Charlie Calvin was born to Chas. J. and Elizabeth FRENCH at Gowrie, Iowa, on September 27, 1876 and passed from this life at Shattuck, Okla., on September 22, 1937, at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 25 days.

When only a year old, his parents moved to Jewel County, Kansas, moving again in 1886 to Barton County, near Pawnee Rock, where Charlie grew to manhood. On November 23, 1898 he was united in marriage to Miss Alena F. STROMER and this union was blessed with thirteen children. The FRENCH family came to Texas in 1927 and for the past few years have made their home in Spearman.

Though handicapped early in life by the loss of one hand, Mr. FRENCH was very industrious and capable in his work. He followed the carpenter trade. He was united with the Methodist church near Havilland, Kans., in 1914 and lived a clean life as a loving father and helpful companion.

He is survived by his wife; eleven children, Claude of Missoula, Mont., Leroy of Los Angele, Calif., Clarence and George of Clarksdale, Miss., Chas. J. of Olmitz, Kans., Mrs. Alta REEHL of Missoula, Mont., Mrs. Rosie WAIDE, Perryton, and Jessie, Iva and Maida at home; twenty grandchildren; two brothers, Emery of Big Bear City, Calif., and Earl of Los Angeles; three sisters, Mrs. Alta Williamson of Los Angeles and Mrs. Orie LYLE and Mrs. Alice BLOOM of Pawnee Rock, Kans.; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
