Services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Gray's for Charles D. Coblens, 77, of 264 Prospect street, who died Sunday in Rahway Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Coblens retired about three years ago after 10 years as a salesman for B. W. Mayer Ltd., a men's wear firm in New York City. Before that he was associated with the former J. M. McCurrach Co. of New York, also a men's wear firm, as senior traveling salesman. Born in Annapolis, Md., he attended the Baltimore Business College. He had lived in Westfleld 28 years, and before that had resided in New York. He was a member of St. Paul's Church here, a life member of Darcy Lodge 187, F&AM, New York, and a former member of New York Lodge 1, BPO Elks. Mr. Coblens was the husband of the late Mrs. Jean F. Coblens, who died Jan. 1, 1947. Surviving are a son, Richard C. of Middletown; a daughter, Mrs. H. Erwin Cox of Sumatra, Indonesia, formerly of Westfleld; five grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. J. Caldwell Wylie of Red Bank. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Richard J. Hardman, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
