Charles Brighton Barrett, 94, of 4095 Barrett Road, died Wednesday evening at Western Care Nursing Home where he had been a patient for the past three years. He was born Jan. 25, 1886, in Nebraska. He attended schools in Nebraska, coming to Helena in 1918. Mr. Barrett had been employed on several ranches. He worked for the. Sanford-Evans Coal Company and at Fort Harrison for 25 years. He retired from Fort Harrison in January, 1954. Mr. Barrett had operated a small ranch west of Helena since 1921. He operated the ranch until illness forced his retirement. He married Bessie Hegman in June 1924 in Helena. She preceded him in death on Jan. 18, 1969. Survivors include an adopted son, John Novak Jr.; a brother, Louis Barrett of Tacoma, Wash.; three grandchildren, Lander, Lynne and Johnette Novak, all of Helena, and a niece and one nephew. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Retz Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lyle Person officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson City Cemetery.
