== Biography == Charles was born in 1710. He was the son of Thomas Anderson. Charles is mentioned in the Virginia Genealogical Society Quarterly [1] as having bought 214 acres in Hanover County, Virginia on both sides of the west fork of Stonehorse Creek. Charles is mentioned in the Virginia Genealogical Society Quarterly in a list of Merchant's Account book of Francis Jerdone of Hanover County [2]. There is a note that Jerdone references were for St. Martins Parish in the western area of Hanover County. Charles Anderson paid 28 pounds on April 4, 1744. Charles was mentioned in a Continental Census in 1782 as a resident of Cumberland County, Virginia. [3]

His will was signed on June 26, 1783 in Cumberland County, Virginia. [4] He mentioned the following in his will.

  • Keziah Rains - (name was faded and unclear in document) was deceased at the time of the will and he notes that her part of the estate had already been give to her and her heirs.* Frances Redd - given one negro slave (Rachael) formerly owned by son William in addition what had already been given to her and her heirs.* Elizabeth Wade - give one negro slave (Ben) formerly owned by son William in addition to what had already been given to her and her heirs.
  • Mary Morton - cows and calves previously given to her and her heirs.*Grandaughter Sarah Holcombe Anderson given a negro child slave (Fillis) to her and her heirs.* William Anderson - Made sole executor of his will with the stipulation, " I desire that my Estate be not appraised and that my executor give no security for his performance."

The will was witnessed by Samuel Williams and Benjamin Allen. Charles passed away in 1786. The will was proved in a Court held for Cumberland County 27th February 1786. It was Proved by testamony of the witnesses Samuel Williams and Benjamin Allen on 27th March 1786.[4]
