Charles came to WA with his parents. He fell in love with Sarah Anderson. He remained in Perth after his parents returned to Melbourne. He met Sarah at the MacDonalds City Cafe owned by Sarah's aunt and Uncle.
The 1910 electoral roll shows him working as a fireman at the East Perth power station. In 1931 Charles and Sarah were living on a farm ( Piawaning). In 1937 he was living at 103 Carr st and is a coal merchant ( Colli Coal)
