    Mrs. C. J. Martin, Westerville, formerly of Athens, was visiting here Tuesday. Mrs. Martin at the present time is helping care for her mother-in-law, Mrs. Peter Martin, who is at the home of her sister Mrs. Tom Vore on Vore Ridge. Mrs. Peter Martin until she went to the home of Mrs. Vore a few years ago was a resident of Athens. She is 89 years of age. Her illness is due to infirmities of age.

    Succumbs this morning at the home of a sister.
    Mrs. Cheretta Martin, 89 died at 10 o’clock this morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. Thomas Vore, Vore Ridge, following a long illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
    Cheretta Shaffer was born in New Jersey and came to Athens County with her parents 80 years ago. The Shaffers settled on The Plains. She married Peter F. Martin, who died about 23 years ago. The family home was at The Plains for many years and later was established in Athens on Morris Avenue. She was the mother of two sons, Curtis J. who now lives at Westerville and Leslie, who died several years ago. Three sisters, Mrs. Wilds, Columbus, Mrs. Coe, The Plains, and Mrs. Vore and brother, Peter Shaffer, of Logain are also left.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Cheretta Martin, who died Monday at the home of here sister Mrs. Thomas Vore, on Vore Ridge, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the First M.E. Church conducted by Rev. C.M. Coulter, church pastor. Burial will be made in the West Union Street Cemetery. The body is at Dowlers funeral parlors until time for the funeral.

Chauncey-Feb 14, Mrs. Isabel Coe and daughter, Mrs. Lettie Coe Hintz and her daughter Gloria of near Chauncey were in Athens Wednesday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Cheretta Shafer Martin, held from First Methodist Church. Mrs. Martin died in the home of her sister Mrs. Emma Vore, at Vore Ridge near The Plains. She was a step-mother of Mrs. Coe. Among other relatives and friends from the vicinity and from a distance who attended the funeral.
