According to the SS Death Index his SSN was issued in IL between 1952 & 1954; it states he was born 1 Aug 1898 which differs by 1 yr from various other records for him including his WWI draft registration that was written by him.
- ↑ He made his living working on washers and dryers (lost the end of his right pinkie finger doing this according to Dennis Shaver). Spangler's store was located at 77 S. Seminary St in the 1938 city directory. The 1941 and 1943-44 city directories show that Spangler's moved to 55 S. Seminary St. The 1946 and 1949 city directories show the Spangler's had moved again to 433 E. Main St. Spangler's store still showed up in the city directories to 1959 at the same location. After closing the appliance store, Cecil & Pearl moved the stock into the garages of their home at 362 N Prairie St, Galesburg, IL. In 2006 Mother Goose Bumps (children & infant ware) was located at the 77 S. Seminary St address; Mimi's (women's apparel) was located at 55 S. Seminary St; 433 E. Main St was added to 4412 E. Main St and was Crappy's Sports Bar in 2006.
