Austin, was bornAug.7, 1899, in Chariton County, and died Nov. 25, in an automobileaccident on Highway 5, several miles south of Marceline. Mr. Austin was married to Agnes Grace Semple, Rothville, in 1922,and two children, Ralph Earl Austin, of Brookfield, and Dorotha Ruth Ritz,of Overland Park, Kan., were born to this union. Mrs. Agnes Austin died in March, 1940. In 1949, Mr. Austin married Mrs. Ruby Serfass, of Marceline, and had made his home there until his death. He was an employee of the SantaFe Railroad, and was on his way home from work when the tragedy occurred. Mr. Austin united with the Christian Church of Mendon in 1942. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He is survived by his wife and two children; his parents, who live in rural Brookfield; a step-son, Loren Dale Serfass, of the home; a brother, Frank D. Austin, of Amarillo, Tex.; a niece, Jean Ann Austin,Amarillo; six grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 27, by the Rev. D. D.Reynolds at the Rothville Baptist Church. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. 8.
