Catherine Bayley Weatherhead was born on 3rd November 1806 and baptised later that month in the parish of St Lawrence in Kent, daughter of John and Ann Weatherhead. Catherine later gave her place of birth as the town of Ramsgate, which was in the parish of St Lawrence at the time.
On 30th March 1830, aged 23, Catherine married Charles Henry Hollinsworth, who worked as a lighterman. They married at Holy Trinity Church in Newington, Surrey, in the southern suburbs of London. They went on to have five children together between 1833 and 1843, and moved around several times in the area around London. The 1841 census finds them living at 81½ Drury Lane in Westminster. The family was sometimes in financial difficulty; two of their children's baptisms give the family's abode as the workhouse.
The 1851 census finds Catherine working as a general servant in Southwark. She described herself as a widow, although Charles's death was not registered until a couple of months after the census.
On 11th August 1852, Catherine married again. Her second husband was John Vincent Cassanet, and they married at St Mary's Church in Newington. They were only married for just over a year before Catherine died, aged 47. She was buried on 12th December 1853 in Lambeth. John survived her by about 29 years.
